A Problem well Defined

"How can one change their friends when they all still live in the same environment and have similar source of income?" [Thompson, 27-June-2026]

Always have it in your response tool bag that a problem well defined is a problem half solved. Even if it takes your input to help the inquirer to better define the problem by rearranging the words to substantiate the contexts, be patient and do so.
I think understanding the context of a question can equally lead to understanding the nature of the mind of the inquirer, when you can aid the inquirer to understand the inner working of their mind it becomes their sole-responsibility to reconcile the pieces if that much hope is left. But when you do not find any hope by this calmly approach, such a mind must undergo a psychological rebirth.
Let me clarify that it was from a dialogue which happened via text with the inquirer for a few days that this question has particularly been excerpted from. The approach applied to addressing this question-in-part is based on the understanding of the inquirer's point of view.

Now the question "How can I change my friends when we all still live in the same environment and exposed to similar income generating opportunities?

We begin by pointing out what is not advisable and therefor any effort in that direction is mere exercise in futility (base on context), and from understanding what is not advisable-what is advisable or permissible may be revealed.
1. Refrain from any act to come off as a Guru, the smart one, the life coach, the most experienced Etc.
2. If you are truly very smart, experienced, and feel the urge to help, start by asking the right questions, reason being that understanding a person's position on any given topic of inquiry is crucial to an exercise focused on finding a solution.
3. In my opinion, I think the most important word in the whole inquiry is the Noun "Environment" because friends and income generating opportunities are on a continuum wherever Environment is mentioned. Environment here-refers to the circumstances, objects or conditions by which one is surrounded which are largely correlated to the factors and influences that affect their growth, health, progress Etc.
4. Let us accept contextually that the individual does not yet see the possibility to change their environment, (all reasonable factors considered). But keep in mind, a person who's reasons-why they cannot change their condition out-weights the reasons they should-is a very difficult person to have such a talk with.
5. Now, you should find out what the individual's habits are, because a person's habits potentially influences their desires, titillate their fears, reveal their insecurities, manufacture their friends, and all this (which makes up the content of the ego/ their safe haven) can dictate the type of environment they will constantly find themselves and the set of opportunities they are attracted to.
6. My biggest phrase yet is "Life is Relationship". So, can we find out what the relationship is between the choice of where you live, the type of friends you keep and the variety of opportunities that will be available for you to chase or those you can organize your skills to attract? If you watched closely, you should have noticed that the most reoccurring word in this immediate question is "You".
7. Therefore, the individual-discovering that he/she is the Ground Patron who is most equipped with the information on "how" this change can come about-I-think is what frightens them the most. Let me add a final hint; once a person is able to find out WHO THEY ARE, WHAT THEY WANT TO DO WITH THEIR LIFE, their purpose, this self-reflective discovery alone will transform them, and open up to them different aspects that has always existed in the same environment-where they will find new connections that will also reveal existing income generating opportunities. Because, one's purpose is not just a basic drive or pursuit to make ends meet, one's purpose is often described as a burning desire which quickens an enormous curiosity within them, and can gradually be the pull or push factor that shapes their decision about the place they live and the company they keep.
Finally, one's decision to change their friends or where they live still remains their own responsibility and no other's.
